Course Description: |
|
Participants in
this 20-hour course
will experience hands-on use of
interactive tools (CoP, chat: text only, voice
and webcam enhanced,
web sites, blogs and on line conference) as well as
reflect
on
how to use
these
technology enhanced resources (computer- video beam and internet) in the
English class, in a safe, educator-friendly blended environment.
This course will combine face-to-face training and on-line activities.
Here participants
will review basic on-line teaching and learning principles and will
reflect on how to use them in their own classes. Participants will
receive information on free software, explore techniques and resources
for community-building, learn the most appropriate uses of synchronous
communication resources and how to create and use digital materials
(power point, videos, games, etc) for language learning.
Theory will be discussed after participants have had opportunities to
explore ways to use the different ways CMC can be use in the English
class with peers online and have some idea of its potential for use with
students.
To ensure that participants come away from the course with a clear
understanding of how to apply what they learned, the course will
assigned a project that will give participants direct experience in
application.
