Level 5 Tasks

 Here you have the tasks we will working with in this level.

Remember you're supposed to hand in your tasks + your workbook on test day! Task + workbook= 2 points

A time to remember

 

  1. Interview an older person and write a composition about it:
    A. Write a questionnaire and ask questions like:
    Where/when were you born?, Where did you grow up?, What’s your favorite childhood memory?, What sports / games did you use to play? Did you use to have a nickname?, Where did you go to elementary/high school/university?
    Did you study any foreign language?, Where/when did you graduate?

  2. B. Write a 3 paragraph composition.
    Paragraph 1: who the person is, date of birth, place of birth, place where he or she grew up.
    Paragraph 2: Childhood memory: family, games, vacations, school life, etc
    Paragraph 3: Goals achieved, why you decide to write about him or her.
    C. Bring a timeline to explain your interviewed person’s life.

  3. Read page. 7 on your book and work on activities A and B

  4. Post your composition at the community www.groups.yahoo.com/group/eflcenterworkshop , read your partners’ introduction and replay to one of them.

  5. * Remember! After you finish your composition and before you post it to the community, show it to someone (tutor, friend, relative, etc) to read it and help you check your mistakes.

  1. Write a letter to the governor or mayor :
    Complaint about transportations problems in your city or state. Talk about the bus system, taxi service, parking, street lights, crime, etc. Suggest solutions to the problems.

  2. Read page. 13 on your book and work on activities A and B

  3. Post your letter at the community www.groups.yahoo.com/group/eflcenterworkshop , read your partners’ letters and replay to one of them.

  1. Houses and apartments. Wishes and things you’d like to change in your life:
    Write a 3 paragraph composition about houses and apartments.
    Paragraph 1: Compare apartments and houses. Say which one you like better.
    Paragraph 2: Write about wishes and things you’d like to change about your house or apartment.                     
    Paragraph 3: Describe the house or apartment of your dreams.

  2. Draw your dream house or apartment.

  1. Talk about food, recipes and cooking methods. Talk about things you did and things you have done.
    Write a recipe for an interesting dish. First list the ingredients you need. Then describe how to make the dish. Say where the dish is from originally and if you ever eaten it.  Bring it to class and enjoy it with your classmates and teacher.

  1. Talk about vacations and travel plans:
    Write a 3 paragraph composition about a trip you’ve planned.
    Paragraph 1: Describe the itinerary, what places you’re going to visit.
    Paragraph 2: Describe what you’ll need: clothing, money, health, documents, luggage, etc. and how you’re going there: By plane, boat, car, etc
    Paragraph 3: Write some good advice to follow when traveling. Use have to, must, need to, ’d better, ought to, should, shouldn’t, don’t have to.  Go to www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide and choose a country.

    Group Work: 4 students
    Write, practice and dramatize a conversation. Before dramatizing the conversation, describe the situation and present the actors and actresses in the little drama you’re presenting. Use costumes and bring everything you need to dramatize your conversation. Have fun
